What Happened When I Wrote an Article Every Day on Medium

So last month, I did a little experiment with my Medium writing. What would happen if I wrote an article a day for the whole month of September?

I usually get a couple of articles per week written on top of my day job teaching, trying to get some exercise in, and just the regular parts of daily life. Therefore, my payouts are nothing major; I’m happy if I break $50 and even happier in the months that I break $100.

I would like to know if quantity had a significant impact on my payouts this month. In August, I made $28, down from the previous month.

The goal was straightforward. Luckily, I write for a variety of publications, so that helped me. If I had to stick to one niche, I might have found it a little harder to come up with ideas to write about.

The first thing I did was make a list of possible article ideas. My goal was to write at least one article for each publication I write for. That would account for 10 articles. I could then do multiple submissions to round out the remaining articles.
