31 for 31 Part 6: Tales of Halloween

An anthology that doesn’t take itself too seriously

Horror anthologies can be very hit and miss. Some are showcases for directors who are just starting out, mixed in with some seasoned veterans. Some like American Horror Story have become mainstays for spooky season.

There have been some great anthology films like Trick R Treat have become classics. Others like the V/H/S series have been hit and miss. There are sometimes a mixture of good segments and bad. This fits with Tales of Halloween.

The 2015 film is a collection of ten short films taking place on Halloween. The segments include vigilantes, demons, witches, and bumbling kidnappers. Each segment is also sprinkled with the right amount of dark humor.

The film also includes cameos from reality star Adrienne Curry and comedy legend Dana Gould.

So if you want a movie with a mixture of gore and humor, give it a watch. It may not be on everyone’s top watch list, but it is a fun movie for what it is.
